25 Random Things about Me

Ha! Ha! You can thank Facebook for this post! I don’t know how many times I’ve been tagged with this note. What I do know is some of the random “things” people share are extremely moving.

1. I love my daughter more than the world, more than my life. I sometimes look at, or listen to her and am amazed she exists and is “mine”.

2. I miss my Father as much today as when he died. On March 13, 2009 I will not have seen his face nor heard his voice in 22 years .

3. When I love you, you have my whole heart. Don’t abuse this gift!

4. I am resilient, determined, optimistic and a survivor. I say “thank you” for these qualities everyday.

5. I deeply dislike individuals who believe they are more special than the rest of the world. Individuals with a sense of entitlement. Unfortunately, I’ve often found this to be attached to affluence and to their sense of their “place” within society.

6. I enjoy roller coasters, thrill rides, water rides… I just hate been upside down or spinning.

7. I love being in the woods, hiking, walking, exploring…being part of nature. I feel at one with the world.

8. I used to love down hill skiing and would like to get back to it. I want to try snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

9. I need books. I really enjoy going to Chapters and leaving with a pile of books. Knowing I have books, and worlds, waiting to be discovered is my therapy. It’s also a vacation from day to day life.

10. My other therapy is Clay Cafe, you know, painting pottery. It’s relaxing.

11. I love Chloe my cat. I appreciate her sensitivity to my moods, her recognition of when I may need comfort and unconditional love.

12. I would like to have another dog. A dog who is as loving as Koda and Kadin were and as sensitive to those around him or her. I miss their brand of unconditional love.

13. I would like to have a cottage by the ocean, where I could go to sleep, and then wake up, always hearing the rhythm of the waves breaking. I would like to go there in May and stay til October, return at Christmas and then in the early Spring. I dream of such a place.

14. I wish I was better at verbalizing my feelings. I wish when I am hurt or sad, I could find the “I” words to share my emotions. I wish right now that I could tell someone how I am feeling.

15. I make most decisions quickly.

16. I love laughter and laughing.

17. I believe in treating others the way you would like them to treat you.

18. I have lost three very close friends to suicide and still ask myself “how can the world get so dark?” I miss them.

19. I hate cancer.

20. Sometime after I finished cancer treatments I stopped being able to cry. Then, about 16 months ago, the walls came down and I remembered how to cry. Wow!

21. I love my family, but I don’t understand them. Perhaps I’m not supposed to, who knows? Maybe love is enough.

22. My imagination is vivid, imaginative, creative, interesting …

23. I’m still scared of fish, but I like the aquariums in my classroom, although, snorkeling won’t be repeated for awhile yet.

24. I am growing more comfortable in my new career. It’s taken 6 years, but I don’t think this is a bad thing. I’ve still got a lot to learn, but I know I bring a sound perspective and lots of positive experience to this career.

25. I still wonder why life, in spite of being so good, has to be, sometimes, so challenging. I suppose it is all about contrast.
